Metal Is Back and It Looks And Sounds Better Then Ever!!
Avid Iron Maiden fan, after recently seeing the Iron Maidens ( The Worlds Only Female Tribute to Iron Maiden ) featured in a segment of the “Tonight Show” I knew I must meet and see these ladies perform live. I quickly made arrangements with The Iron Maidens Manager Mark Dawson. At the sound check Saturday in Sacramento as I listened to “The Trooper” it became apparent that these were very professional and talented women and I was in for a great show that night.Once the sound arrangements were set Linda, Aja, Sara, Wanda, and Elizabeth took sometime to speak with me. Since it was loud in the club we decided to squeeze ( twist my arm ) into their tour van for the interview. I found them to be extremely witty and very charming. After having just returned from “Supporting Our Troops” in Japan, Korea, and Guam with the interview over they headed back to their hotel for some much deserved rest before returning to perform their set at 11:30PM.
With anticipation of the Iron Maidens arrival the club grows louder as the faithful start gathering in front of the stage. In their dressing room the ladies have changed into their costumes and are now in character.” Bruce Lee Chickinson, Nikki McBurrian, Mini Murray, Steph Harris, and Adrienne Smith” are ready to deliver exactly what these hard to please Maiden fans have come to find out. Can five women play ninety minutes of Iron Maiden successfully?
Thru a burst of smoke The Maidens open the show with a perfect version of “Aces High”. While Aja commands ” Scream For Me Sacramento ” the few people still seated rush the stage for a closer look. As the riffs of the second song “Die With Your Boots On” tear into the night the answer has become clear to all, these women can rock. The crowd now firmly in their grasps, Aja swings the Union Jack as they enter into” The Trooper”. Finishing “22 Acacia Avenue” Eddie appears and attacks the Maidens while shooting at the crowd with a laser gun during ” Wasted Years”. After “Revelations”, ” Phantom Of The Opera”, Transylvania”, and “Prisoner” the Maidens show no sign of stopping. As I watched Sara and Elizabeth trade leads and Wanda hold the bottom, I’m struck by the fact that Linda’s timing is unbelievable, a true master in league with greats Mcbrain, Peart, Bruford, Bozzio. ” The Rime of The Ancient Mariner” is next. With fire and smoke the Devil enters the stage for “The Number of The Beast” followed by ” Still Life” ” Purgatory”, and” Hallowed By Thy Name”. “Run To the Hills” along with a twelve foot Eddie complete the show as the ladies exit the stage leaving the crowd wanting more.
After a few minutes they return to Meet and Greet their fans. At the merchandise booth the ladies sign autographs and take photos for an hour. At 2:00AM the owner of the club started making everyone leave. Given the choice as much as The ladies love their fans they would have stayed all night . A true class act, I eagerly await their return to Sacramento!
