Celebrating 33 years of “Unity in Community”, the producers of the West coast’s longest-running outdoor healthy lifestyle and progressive music festival are very pleased to announce a sneak peek of the initial confirmed headline performers and speakers for Harmony Festival. As past winners of The Bohemian’s Best Festival and Best Music Festival Sonoma annual reader awards, the 2011 festival will be held June 10, 11, and 12 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California, a town that has been named the state’s #1 “happiest and healthiest” place to live.
MUSICIANS on the Sneak Peek roster include the Harmony Festival debut of legendary colorful alt-rock performers The Flaming Lips, hard-hitting blues from one of Rolling Stone’s “Best New Bands of 2010” Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, the 10-piece indie-folk group (and NPR favorites) Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, the West’s most influential Kirtan sacred music singer Krishna Das, Maui’s Ethno-Techno-Tribal-Trance-Dance-Chants band Lost At Last Tribe, and American roots sextet Railroad Earth, of whom Vanity Fair raved, “The gritty guitars are turned up and the vocals evoke Full Moon Fever-era Tom Petty harmonies.” Several Main Stage headliners, and other featured performers including several local bands, will be announced throughout February.
Sneak Peek SPEAKERS include America’s top political satirist and “the thinking man’s comic” Will Durst, Peace Troubadour and author James Twyman, Earthkeeper and Native American interpreter Brooke Medicine Eagle, including many more enigmatic and compelling presenters to be announced in March.
