Sneak Peak Lineup:

BURNING SPEAR, TINARIWEN

THE MOTET: FUNK IS DEAD, GAUDI, FANNA-FI-ALLAH

You are all invited to this summer’s hottest new music event, Higher Vision, a one-day grassroots “Community Activation and Awareness Gathering” Saturday, June 9th at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. The festival will treat guests to a unique experience and features a diverse selection of top touring artists. There will be sustainable and progressive vendors, gourmet and organic food, world-renowned speakers, and environmental awareness education in a fun, family-friendly setting. “We plan to put a focus on local businesses and non-profit organizations that serve the community, both locally and in the world,” says promoter Erik Morse. “We’ll also be having a lot of fun dancing to world-class music on the fairgrounds’ great grassy meadow.”  More artists and attractions, both on the field and in the halls, will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at www.highervisionpresents.com

MUSICIANS on the Sneak Peak roster include: BURNING SPEAR, one of the most brilliant and respected reggae artists in Jamaica’s history, having unleashed a host of classic roots records over the years. Part Rastafarian preacher, part black historian, more than any other roots artist, he has illuminated Rastafarianism in song, sharing his beliefs with an avid public.; Grammy Award-Winning desert Tuareg jam rockers TINARIWEN are the “it” band out of Africa right now. Blending ancient musical traditions with radical contemporary politics, their edgy, bluesy sound has earned them legions of fans and has music icons from Robert Plant to Carlos Santana and U2 citing them as inspiration. With only SIX US dates this is a band not to miss!; THE MOTET, a world-class ensemble that whips audiences into a whirlwind using sheer impromptu force. The rhythms are spontaneous and textured and the beats are hard driving. The band uses this energy to create a rapport between the audience and themselves that is rarely seen in today’s world of manufactured rock. They consecrate the ground on which dance music meets free-form improvisation.  A special performance of their highly acclaimed Grateful Dead tribute, FUNK IS DEAD, will be featured at the late-night show.; GAUDI: his eclectic style and versatility have kept him at the forefront of his field throughout a notable and prolific career. His music, which is an organic fusion of dub, world and nu-beat, is in production, on the playlists and regularly performed live in the UK and internationally. He has been stretching the boundaries of music since the start of his career in the early eighties.; and FANNA-FI-ALLAH Sufi Qawwali, blessed to be the foremost disciples of the greatest Qawwali masters of Pakistan. Plus many more acts and special attractions to be announced.
